Meet Our Surveyor

Unlike larger corporate providers, you deal directly with the surveyor carrying out the inspection. We do not sell instructions on to third party surveyors, providing clear communication, consistency and accountability throughout the process.

Our reports are designed to explain the condition of the property, the key risks, the likely next steps and the matters that may require further enquiries before exchange of contracts.

Residential survey advice

Understand the property before you commit

A residential survey can identify roof defects, dampness, drainage issues, cracking, safety risks, poor workmanship, ageing services and legal matters that your conveyancer may need to check.

The aim is to give you practical advice, not unnecessary alarm, so you can make a clear decision before purchase.

Common Issues Found During Home Surveys

Real examples of defects and risks that can affect repair costs, negotiation and your decision before exchange.

Blocked valley gutters found during a residential survey

Roof and rainwater defects

Blocked valleys, defective flashings, poor repairs and failing roof details can allow water into the structure below.

Saturated timbers beneath a flat roof

Concealed timber defects

Moisture can affect hidden timbers beneath flat roofs and altered areas.

Open gaps between separating walls

Party wall and fire separation

Open gaps and incomplete walls may affect fire separation and require further advice.

Defective flat roof detail

Flat roof detailing

Poor detailing, splits and patch repairs can indicate a limited remaining life.

Damaged chimney stack requiring repair

Chimney defects

Open mortar joints, deteriorated flaunching and weathering to chimney stacks can lead to water penetration and may require repair.

We had a survey done in Worcester by Severn Surveyors. The surveyor identified issues we had not even picked up on, including poor support to the extension floors which needed repairs. Becky was very helpful and kept us informed the whole way through the process. The drone footage was great.

Garry S

We used Severn Surveyors for a Level 3 survey and were really impressed. The report was clear and picked up issues we would not have noticed, including roof defects we were able to raise with the seller. The surveyor gave us a call afterwards to talk it through.
